The Sophie Story Summer Fun Day 2009
Hundreds of people enjoyed the sun and fun at The Holly Bush in Frensham on Sunday 23rd August. The Holly Bush was host to a Caribbean themed, fun packed family day out.
We were blessed with blue skies and sunshine which worked brilliantly with the Caribbean theme! People came along to support the event wearing their flip flops, caribbean shirts, grass skirts and hulas – there was plenty of colour to be seen everywhere! Tied in with the Caribbean theme we also had cocktails, Caribbean music and a BBQ.
Generous business sponsors enabled us to run lots of stalls including an adult and children’s tombola, lucky dip, guess the number of sweets in the jar, guess where the treasure is buried, penalty shoot out, teddy bear stall, sweet jar stall, face painting and a cake stall. We also had a bric-a-brac stall and a stall selling donated stationery. Alongside these stalls were a selection of craft stalls including handmade cards, puppets and books.
There was an enormous raffle with some very generous prizes donated including a night for 2 in a luxurious lodge with sauna and jacuzzi at Tilford Woods, an events day for 6 people and £75 cash. There were also teddies, vouchers, jewellery, bottles of wine, champagne and spirits and much more.
‘The Big Red Limo’, a fire engine owned by Alan, kindly came and gave children and their parent’s rides round the village which proved very popular!
There was also a classic motorbike run in the morning around the local area which finished at The Holly Bush where motorbikes were on display.
The day was an amazing success and we couldn’t have done any of it without everybody’s help so thank you everyone!
We raised an incredible £3000 which will all be donated to CHASE Hospice Care for Children.
